MACAddresses
At Dartmouth College, we anonymize MAC addresses by randomizing the lower half (the final three bytes) of the 6-byte (48-bit) address. We maintain the first three bytes of the MAC address, known as the OUI (Organizational Unique Identifier), as this information is useful for research purposes, such as determining the vendor or type of a particular device. |
